Fine-tuning your copy: text styling

Do you know exactly what you want to express with your text, but are not able to hit the nail on the head? We are happy to edit it, and support you on top with defining and maintaining your corporate language.

Why should you have your text improved?

Your path to content with the best effect

Having your text improved or edited makes sense whenever:

  • You have the gut feeling that it does not precisely express what you want to say
  • You know that the target group expects a certain formulation, which you cannot provide
  • You are not the only one working on the text in your company – instead, several persons are involved

You can have your text reworked in light of two key aspects:

  1. You can have the text checked for orthographical or grammatical mistakes
  2. You can improve the style of the text, giving it a certain tone of voice or adding certain style elements consistently

Styling text

The final finishing for your communications

Are you familiar with this situation: you have written press releases or brochures, but think they can be even better? Punctuation, grammar and syntax are perfect, but there is just something missing? When it comes to text styling, we go a step further: we rework text in terms of its appeal and goals – while always keeping our sights on the target group(s). Here is where our repertoire ranges from an uncomplicated freshen-up to an extensive makeover. The following kinds of text, amongst others, make sense for some copy cosmetics:

Maintaining your corporate language

Making your communications consistent

Just as your company has a corporate design, so, too, should it have its own corporate language that is specially developed and maintained. A corporate language is the language that your company speaks – and which ensures your message grabs attention effectively. Your corporate language, or your corporate wording, should be leveraged wherever you communicate in an official manner – both internally and externally. If you would like to ensure a consistent image of your company, it is important that you document the characteristics and terminology of your corporate language and make it available to everyone who writes up or reworks text for you.

These factors set a corporate language apart from others:

  • Which language variants do you use (US or UK English)?
  • Which style do you have?
  • Which abbreviations to you use – and when?
  • Which format do you use for numbers and dates?
  • How do you go about having a gender-sensitive language?
  • How is your company name or brand names and product descriptions written?
  • Which specialist terms do you use and how are these written?

Terminology management

We at Text first support you in refining your corporate language and maintaining it. To achieve this, we set up a glossary in which we record how you communicate. Serving as the basis, for example, is annual reports or other company publications.

Once you take the time to define how you want to write specialist terms, names and similar, you can always refer to the glossary as soon as new text is written. This saves time and money, as you can avoid correction steps for translations or editing when it comes to corporate publications. Our terminology service pays off for annual financial reports, but also of course for frequent translations of press releases. Especially when different departments or service providers contribute to the generation of the content does it pay off to use our terminology management.
